6/20 – nautical mile 118 - Last view of land – San Miguel Island – last outpost of the lower 48. Came here a few years ago and hiked it on a calm and sunny day – a rarity. Thought it was far out then and it is. As we pass it I think about the landfall at an island that makes San Mig loolk like Tahiti from a weather standpoint. Kind of crazy. The journey offshore begins…
