7/1 - mile 1424

svkailani

No wind and a confused swell. Spent all night rocking and motoring. Painful night with little sleep. Woke up to sun and beautiful downwind conditions. Kevin got busy and set up a brilliant sail plan. Cinnamon Rolls for breakfast…managed to brave my way through opening the Pillsbury container. Now starting to look at the trip from here.

We have been working to use as little diesel as possible while still making way towards Attu. The wind has been pretty light so far, and often in the wrong direction, so we’ve had to motor a good bit. Now, as we look forward in the forecast we see continued light wind, challenging our fuel range to get all the way there. We are starting to look at stopping at either Adak or even Unilaska (Dutch Harbor) if the wind continues to not cooperate. But it’s still a long game. We turn north for a while to get a little closer to the Aleutians but keep going.

the light spots on the ocean are a million little jellyfish catching the sunset....

Hoping for fish and wind!!!!
