Day 33 - Holtz Bay - slightly later...

Holy Halibut. Picked up a spinning rod with a small jig. Cast it twice. Hooked a fish that started tugging a little and then starting stripping line out like I had caught a submarine. About 15 minutes in the fish came to the surface. At first I couldn’t see it because the fish seemed too big to be a fish. He ran again and we lost sight of him. Finally, after 25 minutes Brian gaffed him, Kevin and Josh brought the dinghy around to hold him, and we had a 100+ lb Halibut. Suddenly fish was abundant. Sushi returned along with sashimi (with serrano and grapefruit…mmmm). Halibut steaks, halibut fried rice, halibut with eggs, halibut burritos, Halibut chowder with pork belly in a fresh bread bowl…amazingly we still haven’t grown tired of it a week later. Biggest fish I’ve ever caught…
