Day 35 – Krushian Couloir, Holtz Bay, Attu Island, Middle of nowhere

Updated: Aug 3, 2021

And it happened. We laid down snow tracks on our very own couloir. Josh, Brian and I on day 1 and Josh, Brian and Kevin on day 2. We named it Rushian on day 1 and changed it to Krushian on day 2 with the addition of Kevin. About 1200’ of vertical, lots of scrambling, foxholes and forts from WW II, and flowers and waterfalls everywhere. Snow wasn’t great but it was amazing none the less. About 250’ of vertical. When we got there we saw a pair of Aleutian geese shepherding their gosling across the snow field. Cutest thing ever. Everyone did great on the snow, and we settled in for celebratory beverages on our return. Now if we can just find surf on the trip…
