Blowing 40 knots. Steep 8-10’ swell. Last blast from the Pacific before we get into Prince William Sound. Good to feel the boat responding well, even after such a long journey. But we’ll be happy when we get in the lee of the Kenai Peninsula…
A little later we are past the weather and sailing along the most majestic coast yet. Huge peaks and tumbling glaciers line the coast as we sail along the Peninsula. We set our sights on Bainbridge arm as an entry point. It has a few anchorages and a glacier that comes down just short of the water. We pass into the sound and leave the Pacific and the Gulf of Alaska. Sadness fills the air as we realize that we are truly getting to the end, but it passes quickly as we see the Bainbridge glacier come into view.
We settle in excited to explore this new place. More to come…
